Making Headlines
When you make outstanding products, you make news.
At AVNA, our dedicated employees are the driving force behind our success, and we’re thrilled to celebrate two individuals who truly embody our commitment to excellence. Xiomara Hernandez from our New Britain facility and Bryan Szymanoski from our Berlin location have gone above and beyond in their roles, consistently demonstrating the qualities that make AVNA the leading component manufacturer for medical devices.
Quote that inspires her:
“A little progress each day adds up to BIG results.”
Level II F & A operator, New Britain
Xiomara began with AVNA as an F&A operator at our New Britain location and has quickly grown into a lead role and trainer within the business. Xiomara was the first operator we moved into the staple loading area and has been a pillar of consistency for all new hires brought into the department. Her contributions to the department have directly impacted the effectiveness of our new hires, embodying the four principles of the AVNA advantage. Xiomara has applied the skills she learned in the Train the Trainer program to successfully onboard and mentor new hires for the business-critical staple loading department. As the first operator brought into the staple loading department, Xiomara has demonstrated a passion for the work being performed through her meticulous attention to quality standards. Xiomara has consistently gone above and beyond to showcase the department she works in, taking great pride in the work being performed. For example, she hosted the Q&A session for internal staple loading applicants, performed live demonstrations of the work being performed in that department, and hosted a luncheon with the new hires from Costa Rica who would be joining her in the staple loading department. She showed initiative by creating a PowerPoint presentation for the Costa Rican new hires on what to expect in their new department. Xiomara is a prime example of including the right people at the right time in a new process. She has consistently gone above and beyond, without being asked, to ensure the success of her department. Her personal and professional growth is clear to all who work with her.

Mechanical technician maintenance, Berlin
In a fast-paced manufacturing environment where hundreds of thousands of parts a week are being produced, every detail matters. Every employee plays a role in the overall quality and success of our organization. Sometimes overlooked, but equally important to the success of our operation, is our maintenance department and its staff members. Bryan has quickly distinguished himself as a capable individual whom everyone can rely on for our maintenance needs. In a line-down scenario where equipment needs to be repaired promptly, Bryan is always first on the scene, ready to work, sparing no time, and doing whatever it takes to support production.
Bryan is quick to recognize repetitive repair needs and the value preventative maintenance offers in reducing those occurrences, ensuring follow-through to our maintenance system so they are documented and planned accordingly. He is committed to quality work and being thorough, as he understands the impact of machine uptime and production throughput. Working days, nights, and weekends when we need him, Bryan, with the help of support staff, has been able to manage numerous maintenance tasks and complete them on time.
Bryan also has very high emotional intelligence, and his ability to work effectively with everyone on our staff is amazing. He is genuine and truly cares about his internal and external customers’ needs, regardless of their level in the organization. Bryan’s positive attitude and willingness to help others are nothing short of commendable and are a stellar example of what to look for in support of the AVNA Advantage.
